A fantastic example of our staff coming together to help those in our care, through these hard times. One of the people we support who attends our Lock Street Day Centre in Gillingham, absolutely loves shopping and is very much missing his trips to the shops.
So……staff have created a shop at the day centre, with a real working till, which was organised by our fabulous new support worker Elaine Dunn, and kindly donated from a closing down pub! 'The Rising Sun' in East Malling.
Elaine said ‘He loves his daily visits here!! We give him the money to buy things and then 'recycle' the money to give back to him the next day. We've only put a few things out so as not to overwhelm the people we support with too much choice, but, it's tailored to the person that currently uses it the most. Myself and another staff member Emma Sharpington have lots more plans to make the shop more realistic and immersive so we will send you updates as it happens!!’
